Intentional Tree Hugger?

Intentional. That word can seem so very overwhelming to me and possibly you? I remember a time when I was seeking a healthier life style and all I kept hearing was that word. Intentional. Be intentional with your thoughts, foods, surroundings, people.

Ok? I would go out and decide that would be my goal. Not to think about weight loss. Just to live intentionally. It would all go great for about 5 minutes then I would get bored and think this is not working. On to the next. 

Intentional? That is for the birds! I would then classify these “intentional” living people as hippies, tree huggers, or something else that I did not identify with at that time. I handed out judgment to these “people” and that word because I didn’t understand. It was easier to judge the unknown than to try to comprehend this life style everyone was saying was the secret to living.

Fast forward 15 years and I find myself living with intent and purpose almost at all times and without much effort at all. I now identify with pure authenticity as a hippy loving, tree hugger and dang proud of it. So, how did I get there and how can you? How did it change my life and can it yours?


Take it one day at a time.


Find the miracles, the little miracles in your life every single day.  Have an attitude of gratitude at all times. Follow your heart and live from your spirit. Before taking a bite to eat think is this healing me or harming me? Feed your body at least 2 fruits and 3-5 vegetables daily. 8-10 glasses of purified, clear, no flavoring added, no fizzy stuff, plain water every single day. Determine what kind of thoughts you are having. Are they mostly negative or resistant? Do you see the glass half full or empty? Start to try to find the good in those who you feel have wronged you. FORGIVE. FORGIVE. FORGIVE.


Yes, it is the hardest thing to do. Especially when someone has done you wrong.  Unless you start to forgive you will never be able to live with full intent or purpose. You won’t because your light will never fully shine bright. You will always have this dark pull in you. Lightness will always, always win over dark. 


If a houses windows are all boarded up, no light can shine in or out of it. That is you hanging on to hurt or pain. If you are all closed up and your mind is set to never forgive or let go. If you are unwilling to change your thoughts no light will ever be able to come in- or extend out. 


Let go of anger. Feed your body well. Watch the thoughts you think about yourself. Love daily. Be grateful. Find the good in all situations. That my friend, that is the way to living an intentional life. That is how to live with spirit, free and full of abundance.


It won’t happen overnight. But, when it starts to get uncomfortable, when you have that feeling of wanting to quit because “isn’t working”.  That is when the breakthrough is coming. Hang on, never give up. Your reward will be greater than you ever imagined it to be.

Creamy Zucchini Soup (plant based)

You will need...

1 Avocado

4 C cubed zucchini (peeled and cleaned)

3 garlic cloves

1 TBS ghee

1 TBS nutritional yeast

1 tsp cumin

1 handful spinach

1 onion chopped

1 c cashews (you could boil these a little to soften)

2 C almond milk

3 C vegetable broth

Salt and Pepper

Add the ghee to a large pot on the stove over medium heat. Add the zucchini, onion and garlic cloves until tender. Add spinach. Once all the vegetables seem soft transfer to your NINJA or high power blender. Start to puree. Add in the avocado all the seasonings and the cashews.  Blend for about a minute. Add the almond milk and blend again until creamy.  Now transfer all back to your pot and add your broth. Stir well over the heat. Let simmer on low for about ten minutes. Stirring consistently not burn on the bottom. Serve warm or cold.


Creamed Vinson over Sweet Potato

1.5 Ground Venison (or meat of choice)

2 C raw spinach

4 wedges of Laughing Cow cheese

½C plain greek yogurt (I use FAGE)

1 TBS Chives

1 TBS Minced Onion

1 tsp Garlic Powder

In a large skillet on the stove place the venison and start to brown.  Chop up your spinach and add to the meat. Once cooked I usually drain the grease. Now stir in the rest of ingredients and let simmer about 10 min. You could eat alone or top a baked sweet potato for really great carbohydrate to protein ratio. 


Kale Chips

Don’t diss em until you try em! I add these to almost all of my meals. I top on my salads and in my wraps and more. Kale has so many benefits, including powerful antioxidants to keep your immune system strong, a great source of vitamin C and K and can help lower cholesterol which can in turn reduce the risk of heart disease. 

Turn on your stove to 425 degrees.

Use a cookie sheet and line with parchment paper or a silicon mat. Lay out about 3 cups of your organic and cleaned Kale. Pick out the stems you might see. Now drizzle with Olive oil and a little salt and pepper. If you have Everything But the bagel seasoning add that too! Toss it around a little to coat all of the Kale. Bake about 10 minutes until turns crisp. Serve right away to have crispy or store in fridge and eat later.  It won’t be as crisp but still good!

Blend this for an amazing sauce!

2TBS olive oil

¼ C MAYO

3 tbs water

1 TBS Everything but the bagel season

2 TBS Dijon mustard

¼ avocado
